Job overview

Teacher of Media

Required from January 2021

Salary MPS/UPS (+OLA)

NQTs welcome to apply (We have a supportive NQT programme with an excellent track record)

As a subject, Media Studies is extremely popular, and is currently a compulsory subject for years 7, 8 and 9. In addition, we have seen a rapid growth in the number of students taking the course at both GCSE and A ‘Level. The subject is well-enjoyed by all students, who view the emphasis on skills and wider world view as an opportunity to grow both as students and young adults alike. Our schemes of learning are dynamic and engaging, providing the students an opportunity to be the subject experts, with the teacher taking a guiding role.

We are an extremely vibrant, multicultural school in Harrow, NW London and are very proud to serve a comprehensive intake of students who make good progress and achieve well in their time with us.

At Canons, we pride ourselves on the training and development of all our staff so that students are taught effectively and supported within and beyond the classroom to the highest levels. School leaders at all levels are well-equipped to use their professional judgment and a wide range of information to challenge and engage all students to achieve success, identify underachievement, act upon it and help students get back on track. We offer a well-balanced two year KS3 programme that enables students to enjoy success in their GCSE exams, which begin in Year 9. Students also have the opportunity for enrichment courses that allow them to go beyond the confines of academic qualifications and follow their dreams.

This wonderful provision ensures that students make good progress. Many of our GCSE, BTEC and A-Level courses have extremely high pass rates with over 90% of our A-Level students securing places at University.

Just as importantly to us, students leave Canons High School with a keen sense of right and wrong, a commitment to going above and beyond what is expected of them, a willingness to help others and the confidence to be helped by others. In short, they leave as fully-rounded and very likeable human beings who constantly challenge themselves to be better at everything they do.
