Job overview

The High Weald Academy is a vibrant non-selective 11 – 18 all-ability Academy. Our vision is simple - to ensure that all of our students achieve beyond expectations and flourish as confident learners with the highest aspirations, ready for the university or careers of their choice and also ready for the world in which they will work and live. We are relentless in our pursuit of the very best for all our students.

We are excited to receive applications from newly qualified teachers ready to start a brilliant new career with us just as much as more experienced colleagues looking for their next step. Our aspiration is to develop our MFL curriculum, so we would love to meet a talented linguist who can help us do this as well as teach GCSE Spanish.

We have recently moved across to our state of the art new building, which means that you will have the chance to establish the highest expectations and standards in a suite of brand new and purpose built facilities.

The length of your experience as a teacher is less important to us than your ability to motivate and inspire. Our new colleague will have an unstinting belief that every young person, whatever their starting point can make and sustain exceptional progress and that our purpose is to change lives.

Staff at The High Weald Academy enjoy excellent support, creative and high impact weekly professional development opportunities.

For staff joining the profession, we boast excellent training and induction support for newly qualified teachers as well as a commitment to ensuring development opportunities through our network and relationships with other schools.

You will have access to on-going development opportunities and the support of a forward thinking, successful multi-academy trust. You will be joining a team of committed professionals who believe in going the extra mile for our young people and will have the total support of strong and experienced leaders who will do whatever it takes to help you to succeed in your new role.

Working with Leigh Academies Trust: The Brook Learning Trust and Leigh Academies Trust are currently finalising an exciting merger opportunity which is set to come into effect for September 2021.  We will be working collaboratively on recruitment to ensure we secure the very best talent for the benefit of our students. About The High Weald Academy

High Weald Academy is a small school serving a widespread rural area.  There is a calm and orderly environment and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of academy life.  The welcoming and family ethos is reflected in our Aspire and Achieve values and in our cohort structure which promotes a strong sense of community and belonging and supports students to develop and flourish both academically and as young people.  It is a school completely connected to the local community.  High Weald Academy has high expectations of all students and aims to ensure that students achieve the highest possible academic results as well as support them to develop as good citizens able to take their place in the world.  We have an active and supportive parent body who are advocates of the work we do and promote the academy positively in the local area.

The academy currently has just under 300 students. The School Farm is outstanding and wins a range of accolades and prizes as a result of the work we do with the community and local primary schools.  It also gives opportunities to learn in a different context within and beyond the curriculum.

THigh Weald Academy is on a trajectory of improvement.  Our key priority and focus are to remove the barriers to learning in order to secure good and better progress and outcomes for all students no matter what their starting points or challenges.  We are an academy that is committed to ensuring that children achieve well and are given every opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills and abilities that will serve them well in adult life.   The Trust provides opportunities for collaboration between both staff and students across the three schools it works with. At a time of flux in education, we have a strong belief that schools can no longer exist in isolation and that partnerships of this kind are a way of providing stability, support and innovation.

The school’s motto is PRIDE. This stands for personal excellence, respect and friendship, inspiration, determination and courage, equality. Being a part of the community and cooperating with parents is viewed as important. No matter what background each child comes from, the school aims to help them reach their full potential. The academy hopes to mould the pupils into caring, young adults.
