Job overview
In every way, the Language Department mirrors the aims and beliefs of the school. All staff work hard, supported by a committed management team, to provide a safe and encouraging environment for learning. Arden pupils love to acquire new knowledge and skills; our teachers relish the opportunity to deliver engaging, challenging lessons to committed pupils, supported by caring families.
We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Languages. You will have excellent subject knowledge and be able to motivate students through inspirational teaching. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented teacher to join a thriving school and work with students who are keen to learn. You will be able to teach across all key stages; the ability to teach Spanish to A Level and French to GCSE is essential and the ability to teach Italian to GCSE is desirable.
The department currently has eight full-time and one part-time member of staff. Students are currently offered GCSEs in French, German, Italian and Spanish and A Levels in French and Spanish.
The school has a proven record of success at GCSE and A Level. In summer 2017, 84% of pupils gained A*-C/9-4 grades in 5 or more subjects with 84% of students also gaining a grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics (66% gaining grade 5 or above). The progress 8 measure rose from 0.27 to 0.37. 36% of GCSE grades awarded were at A*/A and 42% of pupils achieved the English Baccalaureate. At A Level, 99% of pupils achieved A*-E with an average grade per candidate of a B-.
All applicants should have high expectations of the learning and achievement of all students and be able to inspire commitment and enthusiasm through creative and interesting lessons. There are excellent development opportunities for all staff. The Academy provides Pension, CPD opportunities with a full NQT induction programme where required and Cycle to Work scheme. As a Multi Academy Trust we offer fantastic opportunities for ambitious staff to progress. Equally, few other places offer the chance to simply teach motivated pupils devoted to learning.
