TEACHER of MFL (Spanish)

Fixed Maternity Cover

September, 2020

MPS/UPS, Full Time

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of MFL (Spanish) to cover the maternity leave of the currently post holder.

Are you passionate about MFL and would like to teach Spanish to pupils in a school which is making significant progress? Are you a talented individual who wants to be a part of transforming education at Harrop Fold School and helping to contribute towards it becoming an exceptional place of learning?

In return, at Harrop Fold School, we can offer you the opportunity to advance your career within a supportive school environment.  We have the support of United Learning and its cluster of schools in the North West working alongside us and have access to excellent CPD for staff, joint-working across schools and a series of initiatives and opportunities that no standalone school could ever provide on its own.

Applications are welcome from experienced teachers, NQTs, RQTs or beginning teachers who are committed and passionate about Spanish and its impact on the overall development of pupils and who share our belief that every pupil can and should achieve. Applicants should have an engaging love of subject and an unwavering belief in the ability of pupils to exceed expectations.

Candidates should have a drive to understand the thinking processes and drivers necessary for success in Spanish to ensure that pupils make the best possible progress. The post will involve ensuring the quality of delivery, assessment, achievement, and progress in Spanish at Harrop Fold School.

We are not hiding the fact that we have faced a number of educational challenges, but we are making significant progress as evidenced by our recent Ofsted Monitoring visit, in November, 2019.  We welcome you to have a read of the report on our website:

However, we are not just about academic success; we work hard to ensure that we role model the right behaviours and provide opportunities for our pupils to develop the skills and understanding required to both be personally successful in the future workplace but also have a positive impact on the world.

In line with the Government’s announcement, our school is closed until further notice. However, during this period it is our intention to continue with critical recruitment for key positions starting in September 2020. In place of school-based interviews, alternative options will be offered so that no one is at a disadvantage, and applicants should expect telephone or virtual interviews, with the possibility of onsite school interviews only in special cases. We want to reassure applicants that effective measures have been implemented to ensure their health and wellbeing whilst on school premises.

Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time.

So, if you are driven, ambitious and aspire to build on our success, please get in touch. Please see the generic Job Descriptions and Person Specifications which are available on the school web site and TES.

Please apply by completing the downloadable application form from the School’s web-site http://www.harropfold.com/information/employment-opportunities and return by e-mail with your supporting statement, which should be on A4, no longer than 2 sides, (in 11 font) to:  bev.duffy@salford.gov.uk

Closing date for applications:  Friday 17th April 2020 at 9.00 a.m.

Values and vision

Our core purpose as a school is to raise achievement for all, delivering a rigorous academic education alongside effective personal, social and moral development. We work hard to ensure Harrop Fold School is a happy place to learn and work and provide equal opportunities for all.

No matter their starting points, we stretch and challenge students to reach their potential through a broad, balanced curriculum and wider enrichment opportunities. We provide clear objectives for learning whilst offering the chance to work independently and with others. We celebrate achievements and provide individualised praise through the Class Charts reward system, sharing this with both pupils and parents/carers.

We value our relationships with parents and carers. We know it is essential to communicate effectively with them and work collaboratively to secure the best possible outcomes for students.

Partnerships are also important to us and we aim to work closely with both the local and wider community. As a school we value our international links and constantly seek ways in which pupil experiences can be broadened to prepare them for life beyond school and the world of work, including through our Student Futures programme.
