Job overview

Ossett Academy & Accord Sixth Form are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages from September 2022. You will have a deep interest in the attainment of pupils at every ability level and show vigour and initiative. This is a real opportunity to join a vibrant and forward thinking Modern Foreign Languages department.

The successful applicant will be proactive, creative and well organised with a strong passion. Given the current expertise within the team, we are open to appointing someone who has the ability to teach French and/or Spanish to both key stage 3 and 4. The ability or desire to teach at A Level would also be encouraged.

We are looking for someone who will enthuse, engage, motivate and challenge students to raise achievement. If you have the vision and skills to deliver inspirational teaching whilst having the focus and drive to ensure successful outcomes are reached then we’d love to hear from you.

This position is temporary to cover maternity leave for one term in the first instance.

Across the Trust the MFL departments are staffed by dedicated and forward-thinking teams of specialist teachers; the teams provide additional support and intervention where necessary. Our vision is to motivate, enthuse and inspire all learners so that they have a curiosity and interest in modern foreign languages and are active participants in their learning. Through our curriculum, we aim to foster and encourage a lasting enjoyment and enthusiasm for languages, enabling every student to achieve his or her potential.

Ossett Academy is part of the Accord Multi Academy Trust which is a Wakefield based Trust; all four academies in the Trust are closely located to one another which lends itself to many opportunities to work closely and collaboratively. All academies are within a three-mile radius of one another and can be found a short drive off junction 40 of the M1.

Applications are welcomed from teachers across the experience range: we offer an extensive programme of academy and Trust CPD, to help you grow and develop as an excellent practitioner - whether ECT or more experienced. If you have the vision and skills to deliver inspirational teaching whilst having the focus and drive to ensure successful outcomes are reached we’d love to hear from you.

Talk to our staff or pupils and you will find out how proud we are of our unique academy, its supportive atmosphere and strong team ethos. We encourage interested candidates to get in touch and see what makes us great! Contact the HR team on hr@accordmat.org and we’d be happy to answer any questions you may have or arrange a visit to the academy.

For more details, or if you’re ready to apply, visit our website: https://ossett.accordmat.org/vacancies/ where you will find the application form available to download.

Please return completed application forms to the Accord HR Department at hr@accordmat.org

Closing date: Monday 27 June 2022.

Interview date: w/c 27 June 2022.

Ossett Academy and Accord Sixth Form is committed equal opportunities and to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references, one of which should be your current employer.

About Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College

Ossett Academy is an 11-19 academy with over 1670 pupils, including 300 in our Sixth Form. It has gained a reputation for excellence, maintaining high standards across all aspects of academy life with high academic attainment and an explosion of extra-curricular opportunity and talent. As a result of these factors and their strong reputation, they are significantly over-subscribed.

Their strong tradition of success is built on a firm foundation of personalised pastoral care, ensuring a climate for learning that is calm, well ordered and secure. Recognising the hard work and efforts of pupils in their lessons, the academy puts learning and positive recognition of both staff and pupils, at the heart of its approach.

The academy understands that collaboration is an important aspect to the ongoing development of schools and academies and, with this in mind, it continues to play a key role alongside its primary pyramid, as a member of Education Ossett Community Trust (EOCT). EOCT aims to provide world-class opportunities for the community of Ossett, supporting young people aged 3 to 18 to develop a lifelong passion for learning, across a range of experiences.

Further to this partnership approach, Ossett Academy works alongside Horbury Academy, Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy as part of the Accord Multi Academy Trust. The vision of this partnership is to enhance both practice and knowledge of learning across primary and secondary education, whilst also providing access for pupils and staff to an even better range of opportunities in order to achieve excellence.

Principal: Mrs S Broome
