Job overview

Wollaston School is a large, rural community school located in a village setting about 15 minutes drive from Northampton. The student intake draws on nearby villages and the towns of Earls Bar-ton, Wellingborough, and Irchester. We have over 1400 students on roll with approximately 240 students in the Sixth Form. The school is over-subscribed. Wollaston School was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in April 2017.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Languages to join our team of highly committed linguists. Candidates must have the ability to teach French & German at KS3 and 4, and one language to A-Level. Newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply and we offer a fully supported programme, including regular subject specific mentoring and whole school training. The successful candidate will be well-qualified and committed to ensuring excellent outcomes for every student.

MFL is taught as a core subject at KS3, and is currently optional at KS4 . We are recruiting with a view to increasing uptake. Students who choose a language do well at Wollaston, and both French and German are among the highest performing subjects at GCSE in the school. We currently offer both French and German at A-level and students achieve well in these subjects. The school has a long-running partnership with Max-Planck Gymnasium in Bremen and we run regular trips to both France and Germany.

The MFL team is comprised of 5 teachers, and is housed in a dedicated teaching area with its own Sanako language lab. This is a department where the right candidate would have the scope to develop their practice using the latest research and methodology in a supportive environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and ambitious individual committed to achieving the very best for all students in a supportive school with a dedicated team of teachers and a fantastic cohort of students.

We offer a comprehensive employee benefits package including support of the Teacher Pension Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme, Discounted Onsite Gym Membership and Onsite Parking. Wollaston School is a fantastic place to work and study. Informal visits are welcomed if you would like to see us in action and to learn more about us prior to your application.

Closing date for receipt of applications: 9.00am Monday 30th September 2019
Interviews are likely to commence: Week beginning Monday 7th October 2019
