Job overview

Hollygirt School is a small independent school, educating children from the age of 3 up to 16. We take a non-selective intake and have pupils of a wide ranging ability profile. A small number of our pupils are on EHC plans, many have additional access arrangements for examinations. We take a two form entry into Senior School. Classes are small.

Hollygirt School is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of Modern Foreign Languages from September 2018 or sooner.

The role includes co-ordinating and teaching Spanish throughout the school to GCSE and some French. (French mainly KS3 but it is expected the candidate will be able to teach French to GCSE).

Currently the post is part time (0.8 FTE) but it would be a full time role from September for an NQT or recently qualified teacher or a more experienced teacher with other desirable skills.

The MFL Department comprises two teachers, both currently part- time. They share the responsibilities of Head of Department, one taking on the Spanish responsibility and the other French.

Spanish was a new subject at Hollygirt in 2015 and this year’s cohort are the first to take the GCSE. (Previously German was the school’s second language).

We strive to ensure a dual language pathway to GCSE is offered for pupils at the school. Though for some of our learners who require more time with their basic skills, MFL is de-selected from the beginning of Senior School.

As a small school, duties and responsibilities are shared. Additionally, all staff are expected to contribute to the extra- curricular programme.

Hollygirt has its own salary scale: FTE £20,571- £35,026 depending on experience. There is a small additional payment for the administrative co-ordination of the subject.

If you would like to apply for this position all forms are available via our website. Please complete Application Forms Part I and II and submit along with the Diversity Monitoring Form and a covering letter to lucywilkins@hollygirt.notts.sch.uk.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the school prior to making an application, please telephone Lucy Wilkins on 0115 989 7924 if you would like to make an appointment.
