Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to join our high performing music department. The position will be suitable for both a newly qualified and a more experienced teacher. A 2i/c responsibility with an attached TLR is available for the right candidate.

Rated outstanding by Ofsted in February 2015, Central Foundation is one of the top performing schools in the country based on GCSE outcomes. In 2018, 81% of our Year 11 students achieved a good pass (Grade C/4 or above) in both English and Maths while 35% of Year 11 students achieved A/A* or grade 7, 8 or 9. Our music provision is one of the strengths of the School. Over 150 students take part in Music School activities that include choirs, an orchestra as well as various bands and ensembles.

In September 2018, Central Foundation became a MiSST (Music in Secondary Schools Trust) partner school. This collaboration enables us to follow the Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme at KS3, providing the School with the resources we need to give every single KS3 student an orchestral instrument (violin, viola, or flute). Our KS3 lessons, therefore, take the form of whole-class instrumental tuition, with additional peripatetic tutors in each lesson to facilitate small groups for focused learning.

We are very ambitious in our aim to provide the best possible opportunities for our students. We set high standards for all professionals working at the school but we also provide a very strong net of support for both new and existing colleagues.

The behaviour of students is outstanding and the disciplined environment allows the teachers to focus on delivering great academic outcomes.

Central Foundation is:

  • an outstanding school (Ofsted, February 2015)
  • a school that is situated in a vibrant multi-cultural environment next to the ‘silicon roundabout’ on the edge of the City of London
  • a school with excellent transport links.
