Job Description

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be a skilled Music teacher, with the ability to motivate, inspire and engage with students in creative and innovative ways, both within and outside the classroom. Whilst previous experience of IBMYP, IGCSE and/or IBDP Music would be helpful, this is not essential for a talented Music teacher with the willingness to learn. 

The Role  

• Planning lessons to meet each student’s individual learning needs and ensure excellent outcomes, in line with our Schemes of Learning.  
• Using a range of appropriate strategies for positive classroom management, including the use of flexible groupings and structured inquiry, in line with the IBO philosophy.  
• Using a range of well-considered resources, including digital technologies, to enhance learning.  
• Maintaining a well organised and stimulating learning environment.  
• Assessing students in relation to agreed learning outcomes, and providing clear and constructive feedback to students and their parents, using agreed South Island School reporting systems.  
• Working closely with the Creative Arts  faculty on future developments.

Requirements  

• A relevant degree and postgraduate qualification, including internationally recognised teaching qualifications;  
• A strong commitment to taking an inclusive approach to meet the needs of all students;  
• The ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with teachers and other relevant professionals, parents and students;  
• An understanding of current developments in teaching;  
• Experience of a range of assessment strategies for identifying students’ needs and supporting learning;  
• A commitment to pastoral care within the school;  
• A commitment to developing students’ skills through extra-curricular opportunities.
