Located in the town of the same name in Moray, Scotland, Lossiemouth High School is a six-year comprehensive. Co-educational, the school was first established as a comprehensive in 1974, and has seen extensive development and modernisation since then. The school today can boast of a range of facilities including a swimming pool, science labs, and a large multi-purpose hall. Around 550 pupils attend the school, making it smaller than the average secondary of its type, with the student intake being drawn from a number of local town and villages.

Values and Vision

Lossiemouth High School takes great pride in its contribution to the local community, and works hard to ensure the personal development of its pupils into well-balanced self-motivated adults. The school considers its primary values to be those of excellence, in which students are encouraged to achieve their potential; teamwork, relying on others for guidance and helping others and yourself; humour, encouraging students to enjoy their time at school, and finally respect, both for others and themselves.

Education Scotland Inspection

“Overall, young people, including those with additional support needs, learn and achieve well. Most are enthusiastic, attentive and concentrate well in lessons. They cooperate well in pair and group activities. Staff increasingly plan lessons which engage young people actively in their learning. In some lessons, young people benefit from engaging in high-quality discussion and creative thinking. Young people enjoy taking responsibility for and leading their own learning.”
