The Federation and Academy

Haberdashers’ Aske’s  Crayford Academy is a very successful 3-18 school, proud to belong to the   Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation. We offer an exciting and innovative model   for education within the community that we serve, with broad appeal to parents and pupils alike.

Offering education across all key stages which has consistently been judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted, most   recently in December 2014, following our second year of extremely positive   GCSE results we now have students in every year group to year 13 with our first cohort of A level students taking their examinations in 2017.

Facilities at the school are first class, from the building itself to the resources which support the delivery of a broad curriculum including an extremely popular and well maintained Learning Resource Centre. Our playing fields, gymnasium, drama   theatre and ICT facilities all contribute to ensuring we deliver an education for character, a feature of all Haberdashers’ schools that is part of our DNA.

We take a comprehensive mix of children and expect nothing less than the highest personal goals for each pupil. Where pupils are disadvantaged, we expect them to make rapid progress to catch up with their   peers. Our focus is to ensure each child we teach can read, write and do   mathematics to a good standard in order to be successful in their education   and life.

Haberdashers’ Aske’s Crayford Academy is 30 minutes from London Bridge by train and the school’s proximity to the capital is a strong factor in enabling teachers to enhance   the cultural experience for our pupils through enrichment activities.

Our excellent professional   learning opportunities for teachers at all stages of their professional   development has been commended by external agencies. In particular we offer a robust and supportivedevelopmental   and mentoring package for newly   qualified teachers.

The Role

With a range of popular extra-curricular enrichment activities, and strong GCSE results, the music department is a key curriculum area within the Academy, attracting pupils for entry via our music specialism entry route. We are looking to appoint an outstanding, motivated music practitioner to join a committed high quality, dynamic team (including twelve peripatetic   staff), promoting interest in this popular and successful subject across the full age range of the school.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work   across secondary key stages to inspire students and contribute fully to an   exciting and varied enrichment programme and performance   calendar.  You will be supported in aiming to achieve the highest   possible standards in pupil achievement and progress, personal and professional development and   wellbeing. The department offers first class resources and equipment in our   purpose built suite of music classrooms serviced by a specialist technician.

The Candidate

We are   seeking a strong, organised, well qualified practitioner with a degree and a   teaching qualification who is keen to develop their own practice to   the highest level and take advantage of our excellent professional learning. The candidate must be a   compelling communicator with an ability to champion the subject to pupils   with a fully comprehensive range of abilities. You will also bring real   energy and dynamism to the role, alongside genuine enthusiasm and passion for your subject. Strong keyboard  skills would be highly desirable but are not essential.
