Job overview

An enthusiastic and versatile graduate musician is required to share part time (0.6-0.8) in the teaching of Music to all ages from KS3 to A level. The ability to teach Music Technology to A Level would be an advantage, training can be provided if necessary.

A high proportion of pupils learn one or more instruments, and there is a wide range of instrumental and choral activity in this highly successful and flourishing department. A willingness to contribute to the School’s wide range of co-curricular activities is expected.

The post would be equally suitable for an experienced teacher or someone seeking a first appointment. The School encourages applications from good graduates for entry into our bespoke ITE programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status. The training is fully supported, accredited by a leading University and includes a competitive salary.

The School uses 1-1 technology to enhance teaching and learning.

King Edward VI School is a leading HMC Independent day school for children aged 11 – 18. King Edward’s is a school with a long and distinguished history and it has been at the heart of Southampton for over 460 years. The School has occupied 4 different sites, relocating to the purpose built site on Hill Lane in 1938. It became fully independent in 1979 and co-educational in 1994.
