Job overview

The role

Kensington Aldridge Academy is a school with a broad and rich curriculum. We have very full PE and Performing and Creative Arts (PCA) provision, including six PE teachers and two Dance teachers. All students study these subjects at KS3, with a high take-up at GCSE and A Level for both.

We are looking for a teacher who can work across both specialisms, though understand that one or other will be their preference. We have first rate facilities - on the PE side, a full Sports Hall and rooftop MUGA, as well as access to the Kensington & Chelsea Leisure Centre next door, and on the PCA side, a theatre built to a West End standard, and dedicated Dance and Drama studios.

This is a unique opportunity to join our PE and Dance teams and play a big role in the future development of our outstanding school.

What you offer

You will be an excellent teacher in your own right, with the potential to coach and develop those around you. You will be knowledgeable about your subject and able to think creatively about how to inspire KAA students with the curriculum. You will be reflective and resilient in the face of setbacks, and be open to making improvements to your own practice and that of your department.

What KAA offers

The successful candidate will be joining a team that is firmly committed to making KAA one of the best academies in the UK. The value of being part of a great team should never be underestimated. Being a member of KAA means you will be joining a supportive and talented group of staff who will invest in your professional development. This role will be excellent preparation for your future career, wherever that may take you. Further information about the unique benefits and strengths of KAA can be found via our website.

The role is being offered on a full time / permanent basis.

The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 11th July. Interviews will take place soon after the deadline and where possible, candidates may be contacted ahead of the application deadline.

The candidate pack can be downloaded from this page and suitable candidates can contact our HR Manager, Alice Burch, at recruitment@kaa.org.uk with further questions.

About Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA)

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.

KAA has grown to become one of the top academies in the UK. Our Ofsted report grades us outstanding in all categories and describes standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 we were awarded TES Secondary School of the Year, and our 2022 Good Schools Guide review praises the “phenomenal” education students receive.

Why work for KAA?

Making a real difference

KAA pursues the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all children can achieve good results, irrespective of their prior attainment or experiences. 60% of our students qualify for the Pupil Premium, but with our help they can overcome the barriers that relative poverty can create. Our ethos, spirit and commitment to ever-extending student achievement make KAA an incredible place to work and learn.

Unrivalled professional development

KAA is a high-performing environment where staff at all levels feel challenged and supported to achieve their professional goals. As you will see in our Ofsted report, CPD in our school is of an “exceptional” standard and is an ongoing focus for all staff. There are few better places to develop your skills as a teacher than here with us in Kensington.

Being valued

We invest in our staff and offer unique benefits, including: 180 school days (as opposed to the 190 other schools have); 15 training days (as opposed to 5); free breakfast and lunch for all staff everyday; a two-week half term in October; free staff exercise and well-being sessions, and much more.
