Job overview

An outstanding teacher of PE and Games is required for September 2022 or January 2023. The Department is vibrant, successful and flourishing: pupils are offered a marvellous range of opportunities and we cater successfully for all ability levels (a number of youngsters play representative sport at a high level). Our main sports are Football, Basketball, Water-Polo and Cricket but we offer sailing, athletics, badminton, fitness and a plethora of other sports to cater for all. An ability to take the lead in Basketball is desirable as there is scope for a successful candidate to oversee the School's basketball programme and have responsibility for coaching two of the senior teams.

The post will involve teaching PE, Swimming & Games to Years 6 – 13. The post would be suitable for an NQT (we provide statutory induction) or a colleague with more experience.

We aspire to attract a staff that matches the social and cultural diversity of the CLS community. We welcome applications from anyone with the relevant skills and abilities, and particularly from those who may not previously have thought of applying to a school such as ours. We use CV Minder to anonymise applications.

CLS was named by The Sunday Times as London Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020, and occupies fine, modern buildings near St. Paul’s Cathedral overlooking the Thames, opposite the Tate Modern. There are impressive off-site sports facilities in south-east London.

Salary will be paid on the CLS scale (£34,460 to £56,510 plus two progression points to £60,250 pa 2021-2022).

City of London School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
