Woodham Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and committed professional to join our PE and Health department. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the whole ability range at KS3 and KS4. The ability to teach girls PE is essential and the ability to be able to teach BTEC health and social care and BTEC child development would be a distinct advantage. Woodham Academy offers an extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities, with large numbers of students attending sessions. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the Sports Academy. The post is initially temporary for one year with a view to becoming permanent.

Our results are well above national averages, we achieve positive progress 8 scores and are ranked highly in County Durham league tables. We are oversubscribed for a second year in a row, demonstrating the journey we have been on. Staff wellbeing and development are at the heart of everything that we do. The students at Woodham deserve the highest quality of teaching and pastoral care; the successful candidate will be able to deliver both. We constantly strive to get better at everything that we do, but this is achieved in a warm and friendly environment.

As part of The Schools Rebuilding Program, Woodham Academy will be rebuilt, opening in September 2024 complete with state-of-the-art PE facilities. This will include a 20-metre swimming pool, sports Hall, multifunctional gymnasium, fitness suite and performing arts area indoors. Along with outdoor playing fields and hard courts.
