Job overview

St Michael’s Catholic school is a very popular school in High Wycombe. We are in the unique position of being the only through-school in Buckinghamshire, providing excellent educational opportunities for children aged from 3 to 19. We have keen students who are excited to learn and a very supportive parent body. Judged to be ‘good’ by Ofsted, we are moving forwards rapidly and are securing high standards and excellent rates of progress for our students.

St Michael’s Catholic school requires a Teacher of PE to join a successful PE department working across phases and campuses. We seek a well-qualified, enthusiastic teacher who is committed to supporting students’ education, as well as contributing to the enrichment of their education through extra-curricular activities.

The successful candidate must be passionate in encouraging both mass participation and striving for excellence in PE and school sport, as well as contribute to the continuing improvement in results in academic PE at KS4 and KS5. We would be particularly interested in speaking to candidates with an aptitude for sport science including anatomy and physiology and exercise physiology. St Michael’s PE department has a proud tradition of offering enrichment opportunities for students across the school so we would also be interested in candidates who are willing to contribute to the extra-curricular programme cross phase. This role requires a post holder who is dedicated in developing themselves as an education practitioner and fostering of a school based research culture.

At St Michael's you will be fortunate enough to be part of a small and friendly learning family with modern facilities and caring professional staff. We are determined that St Michael's will be second to none in the quality of its curriculum opportunities, teaching, learning, staff and resources. We are committed to providing the highest standards of education from Nursery through to Sixth Form.

Applications are encouraged from those seeking their first post, as well as more experienced teachers.

Please return all completed applications to our recruitment partner, Hazel Baxter at Hays Education via hazel.baxter@hays.com. If you have any questions please call Hazel on 0787 267 2282.

St Michael's Catholic School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Closing date for applications 24th May 2021.

St Michael’s Catholic School educates its students through the teachings of Christ. The school believes in developing students' spirituality and faith to prepare them for adult life. It also aims to ensure pupils have respect for one another. By praying regularly and worshipping as a collective, children are able to develop a better understanding of the themes throughout the liturgical year.

Ofsted report

“Teaching is usually good and some is outstanding. Teachers have good subject knowledge, present introductions clearly to classes and support students well with their learning. Teachers check on learning regularly in lessons and adapt activities where necessary so progress remains good. Students have positive attitudes to learning and behave well around the school. They say they feel safe in the school and they have a good awareness of how to keep themselves safe in different situations.
