We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of PE to join our thriving department at The Leigh Academy. In addition to teaching core PE, experience in teaching the new Level 3 BTEC Sport, the new curriculum for GCSE and A Level PE would also be of benefit. Applications from NQTs as well as experienced teachers are most welcome.
About the role: The department is comprised of a team of eleven enthusiastic and well qualified full time staff. Each teacher is involved in the active delivery of the National Curriculum for PE in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in addition to GCSE PE (AQA), BTEC Sport (Edexcel) courses & GCE PE (AQA). The department is heavily committed to extra-curricular activities, which help to promote the subject to its current highly successful position. We have strong teams who win annual district, county & national competitions in many games and athletics competitions.
Each student has four 60 minute lessons in Key Stage 3 and three 60 minute lessons in Key Stage 4 over a two week timetable. Our examination PE courses in Key Stage 4 are very popular and include five further lessons in Key Stage 4, at least two of which covers the theory element of the course.
Our indoor facilities include a 4 badminton court sports hall with sprung floor, dance studio and a fitness studio which includes equipment such as treadmills, bikes and rowing machines.
