The Westwood Academy is a popular and progressive academy driving hard to move from good to outstanding. Due to increasing pupil numbers we require an additional Teacher of PE to assist and support the Head of Faculty and build on the strengths already within the department. Sport is central to this strategy and you will be joining a team who have the highest standards, expectations and aspirations for all pupils in the school. The successful candidate will teach classes and small groups in Key Stages 3, and 4 and ideally have a specialism in athletics, netball, hockey, gymnastics or trampolining. 

Our girls compete in athletics, badminton, basketball, cross country, trampolining, netball and rounder’s. We have also been successful at regional tournaments in badminton, basketball, and sports hall athletics, regularly competing with much larger schools. We have a fantastic Specialist PE facility including; 4 netball courts, gymnastic hall, sports hall, table tennis gallery; 2 rounder’s pitches and have access to a swimming pool and gym. 

A commitment to extracurricular activities is essential, these could include standard PE sporting activities or outdoor pursuits/Duke of Edinburgh work.

In our recent OfSTED inspection (October 2017) we were graded ‘good’ and our journey towards outstanding was noted. Recently, the governing bodies of  The Westwood Academy and the prestigious Kenilworth School passed resolutions to come together to form a Multi-Academy Trust (KMAT) and so you will be joining us at the start of this exciting journey. In addition, you will be joining a team made up of staff who have been working with us for 40 years through to new teachers to the profession.
