The Post and the Department

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and able teacher to join a strong and lively department. The post is for one year, covering the maternity leave of one of our full-time teachers.

The PE department currently consists of four full-time teachers, assisted by teaching assistants and specialist coaches. The post comprises teaching PE and Sport throughout the school and includes teaching GCSE to Year 10/11. The appointed teacher will also be involved in leading sport for students at the School’s International Section.

Responsibility for PE at d’Overbroeck’s is shared between Jonathan Richards who is Director of Sport and Martin Procter, the Head of PE for Years 7-11. Together with the two other teachers in the department they form a motivated and talented team.

We are looking for a talented teacher who is genuinely committed to enabling every student to enjoy PE and supporting them to achieve their potential. A positive and flexible approach and passion for PE are qualities we value highly.

All applicants will be expected to have a good degree in PE or a related subject and to be able to demonstrate their teaching ability. The School does not insist that its staff possess a PGCE or equivalent formal teaching qualification, though many members of staff have an appropriate qualification.

All of the PE teachers are expected to drive the School’s minibuses (members of staff receive additional training as required). A clean driving licence is therefore essential.
