Job overview

Teacher of PE (Part-time 3 days per week)

Thank you for your interest in the role of Teacher of PE at St Gregory The Great Catholic School, part of The Pope Francis Multi Academy Company (PFMAC) and Archdiocese of Birmingham.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative teacher of PE. At St Gregory the Great, we offer a high-quality PE curriculum with outstanding sports facilities and our aim is to inspire all pupils to excel in a life-long love of sport and fitness. We offer opportunities for pupils to compete through the School Games programme, Sports Leaders and County and National competitions, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

We are looking for an inspirational and aspirational individual to join St Gregory The Great School and contribute to the life chances of the young people in our school community.  This is an exciting time for the school; new leadership at many levels across the school means we are at a point of positive and significant change. This role will allow genuine scope to be part of something ambitious and improve the opportunities and outcomes of students in our school community.

This is a part-time role; we hope to recruit someone to develop and promote netball, basketball and other sports in the school. We are committed to the professional development of all our staff. To be in such a vital role at such a positive time will also equip the successful post-holder with a range of experiences that will ensure powerful career progression and development.

Our vision at St Gregory the Great is that we are a Catholic School that champions each and every student. We champion students through teaching them well and holding them to account when they need guidance and support. Championing students means that we have a school where learning is disruption free with the highest expectations and ambition for students. We know that working hard and being kind helps students feel personally and academically successful. The role of Physical Education is a key part of this.

To comply with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1998 (as amended by S147 of the Nationality and Immigration and Asylum Act 2002) all prospective employees will be required to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.

St Gregory the Great Catholic School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant for any position will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure via the DBS (disclosure and barring system)  appropriate Right to Work clearances and our recruitment  selection practice.

Please do not hesitate to contact us to seek further information. St Gregory The Great Catholic School website www.stgregory.oxon.sch.uk will also provide further information on the school. I will be delighted to show you around our wonderful school and discuss this role in more detail.

Yours faithfully

Ms Lyndsey Caldwell
