Job overview
This is an opportunity for an outstanding Philosophy, Religion and Ethics teacher to play a key role in a high performing and ambitious Philosophy, Religion and Ethics department within a highly successful independent day school for girls.
You will be teaching the subject to pupils across the age range (Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-Level RS) and be responsible for inspiring excellent attainment in the subject and promoting high standards of teaching and learning.
You will be joining a department which aims to equip pupils with the skills and attitudes necessary for life in a multicultural and pluralist society. The department encourages pupils to develop and express their own understanding of the moral, spiritual and philosophical aspects of life, whilst considering the beliefs and opinions of others.
The ideal candidate will be a well-qualified graduate with qualified teacher status (or working towards qualified teacher status) or the equivalent. Proven experience in pastoral provision, and excellent subject knowledge is essential, as is the ability to inspire, excite and motivate pupils.

Streatham & Clapham High School (SCHS) is a highly successful independent, academically selective school for girls aged 3-18. SCHS is abuzz with activity. Pupils regularly put on ambitious drama productions. The school has four choirs, a full orchestra and a variety of chamber-music groups. Its pupils participate in a legion of sporting activities, in which they achieve great success. SCHS’s Gymnastics teams, for instance, were the best in England in the 2012 National Gymnastics Competition. However, pupils attain success across the spectrum of activity, from achieving outstanding results in public-speaking competitions, to winning prizes for the crash-testing of vehicles at Imperial College; from gaining awards for eco-action and sustainability, to trekking across the Atlas Mountains in Morocco or to the base camp of Mount Everest.
