Bournemouth Collegiate School is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.

BCS is looking to appoint a professional and inspiring Teacher of Physical Education to cover a maternity leave (6 months in the first instance).

We are seeking a strong practitioner who is keen to develop their own practice to the highest level and take advantage of our excellent professional learning environment. The candidate must be an excellent communicator with an ability to champion the subject to pupils across the age and ability range. You will also bring real energy and dynamism to the role, alongside genuine enthusiasm and passion for sport.

We are looking for someone who will be proficient in the delivery of teaching Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 core sport and GCSE Physical Education.

The ability to teach another subject would be an advantage but not essential.

BCS offers a variety of co-curricular activities and it would expected that the successful candidate is able to offer a variety of sports.

All positions in School will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

To comply with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, all prospective employees will be required to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.

BCS is a co-educational independent school on the south coast. The school has extensive facilities across two sites; BCS Senior (day and boarding, 11-18) is situated in excellent grounds in Southbourne, Bournemouth and BCS Prep (day, 2-11) is in spacious accommodation in Lower Parkstone, Poole. There are currently approximately 630 pupils on roll.

BCS provides a nurturing environment where the happiness of the pupils comes first.

We have developed the 4Cs of BCS; creativity, curiosity, commitment and community and through our broad and dynamic curriculum we believe we equip, challenge and develop pupils in all these important areas.

Our added value also extends to the significant number of co-curricular opportunities offered to pupils, which help to instil and develop the skills we want our daughters and sons to have as they grow up. Consequently, BCS pupils leave the School as well-balanced, confident and versatile young people.

We want to inspire each pupil to make the most of the talents they have. This way the pupils at BCS, of any age, grow in self-esteem, develop resilience, have a sense of fun and adventure and are equipped to flourish as young adults.
