Job overview

Teacher of Physical Education - Cricket Specialist

Full time to start April or September 2019

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented teacher to join the existing team of Senior School staff from April or September 2019.  Expertise and the ability to teach and coach cricket to a high standard is essential as this is a comparatively new sport at the school.

You will be involved in developing and leading the curricular and extra-curricular activities for cricket and will participate in the school’s schedule of fixtures and activities during the week and at weekends. Flexibility in teaching across the curriculum, including gymnastics and a variety of other minor sports, is fundamental and we anticipate that the successful applicant will have, or be able to gain up-to-date life-saving qualifications for the teaching of swimming.  Experience in teaching GCSE PE and coaching expertise in netball and/or lacrosse as well as tennis and badminton, may prove a distinct advantage.

Applications are welcome from experienced teachers, NQTs or those wishing to obtain Initial Teacher Training via the School Direct programme.  Further information about the ITT programme may be found at: http://unitedteaching.org.uk/

We can offer you:

  • a lively, dynamic, hardworking and extremely successful department, within a school where enthusiasm for PE and extra-curricular sport is high throughout
  • competitive salary, well above the national scale
  • a friendly and supportive staff team who work collaboratively, sharing resources and ideas
  • excellent facilities
  • regular professional development and well-being opportunities throughout the year
  • your own iPad
  • access to employee benefits and advice services.

For further information is contained in the application pack. To apply, either complete the TES application form or download and complete the GHS application form from our website: http://www.guildfordhigh.co.uk/currentvacancies

The Human Resources department may be contacted via e-mail: Human.Resources@guildfordhigh.co.uk.

The closing date for applications is 09.00 on Wednesday 23rd January 2019.

The school reserves the right to interview and appoint at any stage during the recruitment process so early applications are encouraged.

GHS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work at the School to share this commitment.  Successful applicants will be subject to child protection screening appropriate to the post including an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and checks with previous employers.
