Teacher of Physics – Part Time Permanent

SFC Teacher’s Pay Scale

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of a successful team at one of the country’s top Sixth Form Colleges.

Hereford Sixth Form College has over 2000 full-time 16-19 students and an excellent reputation for its results and extra-curricular provision.  Rated Ofsted outstanding in 2007; the College consistently achieves one of the highest Advanced Level points scores per entry of over 100 SFC’s nationally and has outstanding value added results as measured by both the ALIS and ALPS systems.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Teacher to join us and contribute to the College’s continuing success.

Physics is a popular subject at this successful College; there are currently 121 1st Year students split across 6 sets and 88 2nd year students split across 5 sets. Teaching takes place in three refurbished and exceptionally well equipped laboratories.

The Department follows the AQA Physics A syllabus and has retention rates and raw and value added examination results that are Good. There are two full time, and one part time, members of staff and a dedicated Physics technician.

Emphasis is placed on staff working together as a team to develop and shape all aspects of the Department. As a result, the person appointed would be expected to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Schemes of Work and teaching resources. Within the context of delivering the agreed Departmental Policies and practice, new teaching ideas and approaches are actively encouraged particularly when they enhance the students’ learning experience.

Many of the students are keen and motivated, so this post provides an excellent opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic teacher to develop their practice both inside and outside of the classroom.

We are also recruiting for Teachers of Maths and Engineering. The Maths, Physics and Engineering departments work closely together and applications from someone who wished to work across departments would be welcome. Applications from NQTs will be considered.
