Job overview

A warm welcome to Macduff Primary School. We are a large community primary school of around 330 pupils in 13 classes with a large nursery of between 70 -100 children in 4 classes. School is proud to serve the fishing community of Macduff, population around 4500, and the surrounding rural area. Community links are a valued part of school life. The school itself is used for a range of community activities, including after school sports and activity clubs. The School has a very supportive Parent Council and Parents Support Group. These groups support school improvement activities and raise additional funds to provide many extras for the pupils in the school. Traditions are really important in the school and community but we also embrace new technology and teaching methods to improve. Staff, visitors and children all comment on the family atmosphere in the school and are very proud to be part of the school. We are very lucky to have extensive school grounds and plenty of space inside our school building having been originally built as a secondary school. We hope you will join us as part of our friendly staff team.

We are looking for enthusiastic teachers who are committed to excellence and ready to work in a dynamic part of Scotland to deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute, within collegiate ethos, to the professional life of the school in relation to pupils, staff and appropriate external bodies within the agreements of the Local Negotiating Committee for Teachers and the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers. A specialism in ICT or PE would be desirable.

Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered.

Aberdeenshire Council recognises that in order to recruit and retain high quality employees across the organisation it is necessary to have a competitive relocation and resettlement scheme. The purpose of the scheme is to compensate employees for reasonable expenses directly incurred as a result of a change in their primary residence. The change must be wholly or mainly to bring their residence within a reasonable daily travelling distance of the place where they will normally perform their work. Under the terms of this procedure relocation expenses of up to £8,000 (including vat) will be reimbursed.
