Job overview

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to join a unique SEMH partnership maintained by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The successful candidate will work with the Assistant Headteacher/Head of School who will lead on a newly created primary, SEMH provision based in Tower Hamlets and modelled on Bowden House School, Seaford. The twelve place provision will be a partner of Bowden House School, Primary and linked with Ben Jonson, a mainstream, inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets who will share culture, practice and ethos to ensure a completely integrated approach for all SEMH children.

This is a unique opportunity to embark on a groundbreaking and visionary development in inclusive education. The successful candidate will be supported by the Head of School together with a team from Bowden House School, Seaford who all passionately believe in the importance of the right education for every child.

The establishment of this school follows an authority-wide SEMH review aimed at improving social, emotional and educational outcomes for primary aged girls and boys in the borough whose needs cannot be effectively met in a mainstream setting.

This new provision is expected to promote and support the ethos, vision and culture of Bowden House School, Seaford and reflect its curriculum, teaching and learning approach and specialist support.

Candidates must have sound knowledge and experience in working with primary-aged children who present with SEMH difficulties in either a specialist or mainstream setting; proven skills in working as part of a team and demonstrate a willingness to work effectively within this unique, wider, educational partnership. The successful candidate will be a classroom based practitioner, with Assistant Teacher support, for up to 12 pupils. Year one will begin with four pupils, year two with eight and year three with twelve.

An application pack is attached to the advert or can be found on the school’s website or you can contact the school on the above telephone number or e-mail admin@bowdenhouse.towerhamlets.sch.uk/ or head@bowdenhouse.towerhamlets.sch.uk. You are encouraged to contact Mr. A Sherwood for an informal discussion or to obtain the broader context of this new role.

Closing Date: 20th May 2021

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 26 May 2021 at Ben Jonson Primary School Harford Street London E1 4PZ
