This is a rare opportunity to join our team at Heathhall School where we put an emphasis on Fairness, Achievement and Respect

We are seeking to appoint a committed, motivated and enthusiastic Class Teacher, who will initially be based in the early years.

We have very high expectations and are strongly committed to working with our learners, parents and partner agencies in a continuous and reflective partnership.

We are looking for an individual who is committed to the welfare and wellbeing of the children who will be in their care.   

The successful candidate will have excellent teaching and learning skills.  Needs to have an excellent record of good practice and sound understanding of how children learn especially with a focus on early years and play based learning. They are passionate about enabling every child to fulfil his/ her potential and is a pro-active team member who is committed to contributing to continual school improvement.

As a class teacher you will provide effective learning and teaching and carry out related activities and developments following local, national and school policies under the direction of the Head Teacher.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.  

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 is available to the successful candidate.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

The site identified for this new build school was a green field site within Heathhall. The total site area is approximately 1.259 hectares.

Heathhall is a rapidly growing residential area housing a large number of young families with small children. The new school will include provision for 40 nursery places (morning and afternoon).

Heathhall Primary includes:

  • 10 classrooms
  • 1 General Purpose Room
  • 1 Library/resource centre
  • Tutorial Room
  • Learning/Behaviour support room
  • Multi purpose hall (which has a partition to allow it to be divided into 2 halls)
  • Community room
  • Nursery for 40 places (morning and afternoon) and wraparound care
  • Admin/support offices
