Teacher of Religion, Ethics and Philosophy (REP)

(Maternity cover – 2 terms in first instance)

MPS (Salary according to expertise and experience)

At KS3 REP is taught in ability groups with access to a well-equipped Learning Resource Centre and a computer room.  At KS4 REP GCSE is an option which is taken up by between 20-25% of each cohort.  Students are prepared for the AQA Religious Studies GCSE and results are above the National Average.  This new course includes topics on two religions (Buddhism and Christianity) and Ethical Studies, including medical ethics and religion, peace and justice.  At A-level, the department is an increasingly successful and popular subject for Key Stage 5 students.  The new Philosophy, Ethics and Religion A-Level course follows the OCR syllabus.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of REP with high expectations, strong classroom management skills, good subject knowledge and a passion for REP to cover for the post holder whilst on maternity leave.  You should have a vibrant personality and be prepared to continually develop your skills to ensure enjoyment and rigour in the classroom.   We have a strong team ethos and are looking for a like-minded person to join the department at an exciting time of its development.  We would warmly welcome and encourage applications from Newly Qualified Teachers.

About Tendring Technology College

**Please scroll to the bottom of this page to view our live vacancies**

Tendring Technology College is a large split site comprehensive school for students aged 11-18, located in the pleasant village of Thorpe-le-Soken and the historic town of Frinton-on-Sea. The mix of this rural and coastal location is a lovely backdrop for our young people and at the same time there is easy access to Colchester, the oldest recorded town in the country, and the capital itself, London.

Thorpe Campus is situated in the village of Thorpe-le-Soken. It serves students aged 11-14. Our Frinton Campus serves the needs of students aged 14-19. We take children from a large area surrounding the College. This includes Thorpe-le-Soken, Kirby-le-Soken, Kirby Cross, Great Holland, Little Clacton, Weeley, Tendring, Little Bentley, Wix, Beaumont, Great Oakley, Frinton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze as well as a number of students who travel from much further afield including Harwich, Alresford and Colchester.

Tendring Technology College is an academy and it converted in August 2011. The school was judged to be ‘inadequate’ following an Ofsted inspection in November. The outcome was ‘serious weaknesses’ rather than ‘special measures’ in recognition of the fact that the trust and school leaders were taking the right actions to improve the school and had effective capacity to do so.
