Job overview

Chiltern Hills Academy invites applications for the opportunity to join the staff of a successful, mixed 11-18 Church of England Academy. Based in the market town of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, we are located in the Chiltern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty conveniently situated at the end of the London Underground Metropolitan Line.

Due to an increase in student numbers, we are looking to recruit a full time science and maths teacher from September 2021.  The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who is committed to raising the achievements of our students. You will be joining a strong, enthusiastic team of staff at an exciting time as we are in the fortunate position to be moving into brand new state of the art science classrooms due for completion in the summer. The science department has enjoyed year on year improvement in outcomes for our students. The successful candidate should be able to teach mathematics at KS3, KS4 and KS5, including the new A Level specification.

This post requires an enthusiastic, hardworking and conscientious individual with a strong track record who can communicate his/her passion for science and maths through innovative, diverse and exciting teaching methods.

Essential qualities:

  • An outstanding classroom practitioner who is passionate about teaching and learning
  • High expectations for student achievement
  • A commitment to raising standards for all

Applications from NQTs, experienced teachers or those returning to the profession will be welcome.  We are committed to the development our staff; to support them to further their career, progress professionally and develop their teaching and leadership skills.

We have been graded ‘good’ following our latest SIAMS inspection (March 2020). “The academy is highly inclusive, and tireless in supporting all of its pupils and staff. Because of this, each person is known, nurtured and inspired. This enables them to make strong progress from their starting points”. Our OFSTED inspection in February 2017 also judged the school as ‘good’ in all categories.

We have recently embarked on the next stage of our school development programme to accommodate growing numbers and add to our well-resourced teaching environment. Applicants are encouraged to use the quick apply button to apply for the role or to contact Mrs Jo Mistry, HR Administrator, with any questions:  jmistry@chacademy.co.uk
