Teacher of Science (Biology) – September 2019 start 

We seek an enthusiastic and innovative Science teacher, to join Therfield’s vibrant and forward-looking department. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic classroom practitioner able to engage students with their passion for Science. This post would suit either a NQT, or someone who is looking for opportunities to further opportunities for career development. 

With 11 laboratories, each teacher has their own classroom to assist the personalisation of their learning environment. This includes a separate block of labs resourced for 6th form teaching. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and we are well resourced to cover all needs for the broad curriculum coverage. Students achieve well at GCSE where both double and triple award qualifications are made available and A-level where all three Sciences are offered.

We are well located for transport links from London, with Leatherhead Station being accessible from both the Waterloo and Victoria lines. The school is a 10 minute walk from the station. Alternatively we are minutes from Junction 9 of the M25.

Therfield School is a mixed secondary with sixth form based in Leatherhead, Surrey. The school is a non-selective, non-denominational state school with 1,178 students aged 11-18, approximately 236 of whom attend the sixth form. 

The school has a partnership with the Leatherhead Responsible Business Network, which provides a range of activities throughout the year to help prepare pupils for the working world. These have included careers fairs and mentoring schemes.

Therfield School’s motto is “The best for all – excellence, leadership, opportunity”. There are five core values at the heart of the secondary: respect, responsibility, perseverance, independence and integrity. Teachers encourage students to develop their leadership skills, while fostering in pupils the courage to stand up for what is right as they progress into adult life.
