Job overview

We are seeking to appoint two Science teachers who demonstrate an infectious passion for teaching, as well as supporting students to become the best version of themselves.  Having successfully navigated the recent changes to specifications, our curriculum from Year 7 is rigorous, engaging and structured to build, interleave and consolidate the skills needed to prepare students for success at GCSE and for life.

Science is taught throughout the 11 - 18 age range and at all levels of ability.  In Key Stage 4, we offer both Separate Science and Combined Science (Trilogy) and we follow the AQA syllabus.  In the Sixth Form, students can follow courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Applied Science, Animal Management and Psychology.  All courses are very popular with students and there is a strong record for securing good outcomes for students.  The ability to teach Chemistry or Physics (to at least GCSE level) is essential.  For the right candidates, there are the opportunities to teach at all three Key Stages.  The posts are suitable for ambitious and outstanding NQTs.

In June 2016 we were judged by Ofsted to be ‘good’ in all areas.  We offer a friendly, supportive working environment, which values talented, committed staff and offers excellent professional development opportunities.  We are highly committed to managing teacher workload and offer a fortnightly home-based PPA session to all teaching staff.

Hilbre High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment.  This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Disclosure.  All details are available to download from our website www.hilbre.wirral.sch.uk  An application form and letter of application must be completed for eligibility to the post and are returnable to the Headteacher, Mr Mark Bellamy either by post or by e-mail to schooloffice@hilbre.wirral.sch.uk   All electronic applications will be acknowledged (no agencies please).

Closing Date: 9am, Monday 15th June 2020
