The job description and person specification describe what the post entails and the type of person we are looking for.

This is a great chance to be involved in a large, innovative and successful Science department. Delivering AQA Trilogy Combined Science and AQA Separate Sciences at GCSE, our spiral curriculum from Year 7 upwards is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to progress and achieve their potential every step of the way. At Ratton, we believe that participation in practical activities is incredibly important in developing a secure understanding of the key concepts and as such we have a team of committed and knowledgeable technicians to support us in delivering this.

Students at Ratton enjoy their Science lessons and are keen to explore and understand the world around them. We have a very successful extra-curricular STEM club, who have won the STEM club of the Year award for the South East for the last 2 years. In addition to the weekly STEM club, we run regular trips to enrich the learning experience of our students – for example this year we have run trips to the GCSE Live conference, Rampion Windfarm, Big Bang Fair, Sussex University Physics outreach programme as well as regular astronomy evenings held at school.

In December 2017, we formed a multi-academy trust (MAT), the South Downs Learning Trust, with Ocklynge Junior School. The vision for the MAT is to develop outstanding provision for all children. This relationship also provides a range of exciting opportunities to develop teaching and learning and the curriculum.
