Salary: Full-time plus London Fringe Allowance

Post suitable for NQTs

Required from September 2021

We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

Are you an inspiring and ambitious teacher ready to join a thriving Science department? Due to continued school expansion and a growing, high-achieving Sixth Form, we require a dynamic Teacher of Science to teach across the full age and ability range. The Science department has a strong track record of success at GCSE and A Level, with a good proportion of students heading to university each year to study the subject, including Oxbridge. We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.

Our previous OFSTED inspection judged us as Outstanding in every category, and our most recent S48 Inspection (2018) also judged us as Outstanding in every area.  Over the last 4 years, exam results have risen at both GCSE & A Level.  Our ‘Progress 8’ score for 2018 was +0.61, which put the school in the top 10% in the country, and we are again ‘Above Average’ in 2019.  At A Level the proportion of A*-B Grades as well as students enrolling at elite Russell Group Universities has risen significantly over each of the last 4 years with 2018 breaking all school records.

The right candidate will have excellent academic and exam knowledge and be supported by a cast of professional colleagues within a dedicated fully-renovated teaching space. You will be self-motivated, organised and confident. Students’ behaviour at St Mary’s is exemplary and parental support is outstanding, allowing an excellent environment to develop your career further among our reflective and supportive staff.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants.  St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.

Closing date: Monday 12th April 10.00 a.m. (latest).  Early applications advised. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis and the application deadline may close early.

Apply in writing using the forms available on our website www.stmarys.net: Teacher Application Form, Consent to Obtain References Form, Rehabilitation of Offenders Form & Recruitment Monitoring Form.  Applicants are reminded that they should read the Notes to Applicants before completing an application. Please note only applications on St Mary’s forms will be accepted. Please contact Recruitment@stmarys.net to submit an application or for more information.
