Job overview

We encourage you to read our website very carefully and familiarise yourself with our 2014 Ofsted report, our prospectus, candidate information pack and application form for the post. What will be clear to you is that you are applying to an extremely successful school and one with a decidedly clear ethos of achievement. We moved, in November 2012, into a brand new £80 million school. The school became an Academy in September 2013 and was recognised by the Department for Education as a Teaching School in 2015. The government’s analysis of examination results has placed the school’s performance in the top 5% of schools nationally over the last decade. The school is committed to developing its teachers and to fostering the development of outstanding teaching. It is a personalised community, committed to creating careers for people. We are experienced in supporting NQTs and indeed enjoy this aspect of staff development but we have had equal success in fostering the careers of colleagues who join having taught in other schools or who have had other careers.  Teachers appointed on the mainscale receive, in addition to their salary, the Holland Park School Allowance.

Teachers provide outstanding Science teaching. There are generous resources and all teachers have their own beautifully equipped laboratory which includes a range of interactive technology. Science colleagues benefit from the participation in the Prince’s Teaching Institute and their professional development is supported by one of the school’s Deputy Heads. Triple science is a very popular option for our most able students and there is significant take up at A-level for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The science team boasts some highly proficient and skilled practitioners and there is a powerful sense of shared practice in the team. Led by those with specialisms in each of the sciences, each colleague is committed to developing their subject knowledge in the other disciplines and the result is an exciting atmosphere of personal development. Trips to CERN, an annual Science Week with leading academics and broadcasters and a very popular dissection club and reptile club make this a thriving and highly successful subject area.

An application form that should be completed electronically is available from the school’s website: http://www.hollandparkschool.co.uk/vacancies/train-and-teach-with-us.  The closing date for applications is Monday 22nd  April 2019 however we encourage you to apply as soon as possible as we will seek to interview and appoint on receipt rather than await the closing date.
