TEACHER OF SCIENCE (Chemistry & Physics)

Required for September 2018

The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced teacher of Science, who will join a successful department with high expectations. The appointed candidate will be required to teach Chemistry and Physics to GCSE, using a variety of methods and approaches to match curricular objectives and the range of pupil needs, ensuring equal opportunity for all pupils. The post-holder will set high expectations for all pupils, to deepen their knowledge and understanding, maximising achievement in these subjects and contribute to the further development of the department.

Bellerive is a popular, successful and over-subscribed Catholic college for girls aged 11-18 years, with a mixed sixth form. Our aim is to enable each pupil to make the most of every given ability and enjoy and achieve personal growth and academic excellence. We support and encourage them to succeed and prepare for their adult life, playing a full part in a modern global society.

Our award winning, state of the art Sixth Form Centre opened in September 2016 and the sixth form provision is widened by our reciprocal partnership with Archbishop Blanch, St Hilda’s and St Margaret’s High Schools. Students from all the partnership schools benefit from a wider learning experience by studying at other centres in the partnership and you can read further on the website under Sixth Form, www.bellerivefcj.org.

Bellerive FCJ Catholic College was rated GOOD by Ofsted in October 2016. We were inspected by the Archdiocese of Liverpool under Section 48 of the Education Act in June 2017.  The inspection report confirms that Bellerive remains an outstanding Catholic college in all regards.

Our school is committed to safeguarding children and promoting children’s welfare. The post is subject to all the relevant pre-employment checks set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education, including an enhanced DBS Certificate with a barred-list check and a medical screening questionnaire.

The closing date for applications is 5.00pm on Friday 18th May 2018
