About the role:  We are seeking to appoint a talented and inspiring Teacher of Science who will join us after Easter 2018, strengthening our already successful department even further.  Our successful candidate will be passionate about their subject, committed to academic excellence and have the ability to motivate, support and enthuse students. You will join an established department with a friendly, dedicated team who achieve excellent results.

We can be receptive to Teachers joining us at varying stages in their career; whether you are an NQT or have many years teaching experience, we can ensure that you are developed within the Department and wider Academy.  Please consult the Job Description for further details which is aligned with the National Teaching Standards.

Working at Longfield Academy:  Longfield Academy is a friendly and supportive working environment with innovation and collaboration at the heart of everything we do. The academy opened in September 2008, replacing Axton Chase School. Since then student outcomes have rapidly improved. In May 2011 it was judged to be a Good school with many Outstanding features, including all aspects of Leadership and Management. Ofsted also judged it to have Outstanding capacity for further improvement.

The school is heavily oversubscribed in Year 7 and has a large and growing Sixth Form. In September 2011, Longfield Academy moved into its brand new £25m building with state of the art facilities for learning across all subject areas. Its subject specialisms are in Science and Arts. Particularly innovative are its home access iPad 2 scheme and Bistro called 'The Telescope', which is open to the public every week and run by students.  At the same time it has a thorough and robust approach to school improvement and is well on course to becoming a truly Outstanding school.

What are we looking for in you?  To be successful you need to be a qualified teacher who is passionate and knowledgeable about your subject and possesses the ability to teach consistently at an outstanding level. Whether you are at the start of your career or an expert teacher we focus on what attributes you will bring to the academy and most importantly what impact you will have on our students.

As a Trust we feel it is important to hire for the right attitude which is why we look for teachers that are enthusiastic, focused and resilient to the day to day pressures that teaching brings.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust:  As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have the opportunity to collaborate with your peers and share best practice at Academy level and across the whole Trust.  This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together.  You will also be expected to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation. As part of the 'cluster' structure, all of our academies are grouped together in key geographical area to enable them to be able to support each other and share resources.  It also offers staff access to career opportunities across the Trust allowing them to progress their career without switching employers.   For more information on working for the Trust please visit our careers pages.

Diversity at our core:  As a Trust, we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.  The academy is committed to safeguarding children and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Our commitment to safeguarding is underpinned by robust processes and checks which are in place across the Trust.
