Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, outstanding colleague to deliver Science teaching at both Key Stage 3 and 4 in our supportive and forward-thinking academy. The successful applicant will be an inspirational teacher and be committed to ensuring that all students make outstanding progress. This is a maternity cover starting 23rd April 2019 and lasting until the end of the autumn term 2019.

Co-op Academy Manchester opened in September 2010 in a new build and is sponsored by the Co-operative Group, which is one of Manchester’s largest businesses.  The culture of the Academy has a strong ethical stance, using the co-op values and principles to inspire individuals in the academy to develop as global citizens.

This is an incredibly exciting time to be joining the academy, as September 2018 saw the opening of our new state of the art extension. Additionally, in 2014, the academy outperformed other sponsored academies nationally and was judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’ with many outstanding features.  We are delighted that at our recent re-inspection in February 2018, the academy was again judged to be "Good" with many outstanding features and further improvements since its previous inspection.

Our core values of fairness, ambition and respect underpin all that we do to ensure the highest quality outcomes for every student.  If you have the passion and skills to participate in further developing our outstanding teaching and learning provision both within the classroom and beyond, then we want to hear from you!

Please note – the academy cannot accept a C.V. as a form of application.

Please download full details and an application form from our website www.cam.coop or contact Mrs Sue Stephenson at Co-op Academy Manchester, Plant Hill Road, Manchester, M9 0WQ. Alternatively e-mail to s.stephenson@cam.coop or telephone 0161 795 3005.

Closing date is 12 noon, Wednesday 30th January 2019.
Interviews, week commencing Monday 4th February 2019.

Co-op Academy Manchester is a mixed, non-selective academy.

The academy, based in Higher Blackley in North Manchester, has over 1,600 students on roll and is part of Co-op Academies Trust.

Values and vision

All academies in our Trust are united by our Ways of Being Co-op.

These are:

  • Do what matters most
  • Be yourself, always
  • Show you care
  • Succeed together

Our shared academy vision is for excellence in everything.

Excellence is not an act but a habit. By its very nature, excellence is difficult to measure or quantify. Excellence is difficult to achieve and even harder to maintain.

It is often said that we are what we repeatedly do. Therefore by having habits of excellence we constantly challenge ourselves to be the best that we can be.

Our team

We are looking for colleagues who are up for a challenge; who want to make a real difference to the lives of the children they work with; who are committed to their own professional development and who want to be outstanding teachers, classroom assistants, administrators, leaders, and support workers across a wide range of roles in our academy.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to work in a highly successful academy with a growing reputation as a high-performing educational setting.
  • Significant opportunities for professional development and growth within the academy and the Trust.
  • The opportunity to work under the ethics and values of the Co-op.
  • Co-op Academies Trust benefits package.
