Job overview

Thank you very much for your interest in the post of Teacher of Science.

We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic science teacher to join our team.  We are looking for a conscientious, dedicated team-player who has excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Science with the ability to enthuse students.  The successful candidate will be expected to deliver Science at KS3 and KS4.  For candidates with suitable experience and expertise, teaching A level in any of the sciences is a possibility, as is the opportunity to contribute to the College’s extensive extra-curricular activities.

Applications from Newly Qualified Teachers looking for their first post or more experienced teachers looking for a career move are equally welcome.  There is the potential for responsibility points with start dates and hours being negotiable – preferably to start in September 2019 or July 2019 for an NQT.

The Science department is a strong, enthusiastic and supportive team, results are good (73% gaining 2 passes in GCSE Sciences in 2018) and set to improve.  Triple science is studied by around a third of the year group and take up at AS and A2 is growing.  The science department occupies seven teaching laboratories and has a dedicated ICT suite as well as additional classrooms, and is supported by two technicians with a wide and expanding range of up-to-date practical equipment.

Midhurst Rother College

Midhurst Rother College is an 11 to 18 academy located in beautiful surroundings within the South Downs National Park.  Accommodated in a new £31 million building the College obtained an ‘outstanding’ judgement in all Ofsted categories in 2013.  The College is very much the school of choice in the local area and beyond.  Students are keen to learn and want to be engaged and challenged with lessons that are vibrant and interesting.

An extensive training and Inset programme along with a ‘laptop for staff’ scheme are in place.  All those joining the College contribute to its wider life, especially its already rich and diverse programme of enrichment activities.  If successful in your application, you would be joining a great school, but with opportunities to make your mark and fulfill your potential as a teacher and school leader.

United Learning

Midhurst Rother College is part of United Learning, a large, and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
