The school has seen its numbers rise over the last few years and was officially oversubscribed last year.
At Birkdale we aim to be leaders in the education of boys and this starts with a clear focus on developing effective teaching pedagogy and not engaging in educational fads or gimmicks. Our development of teaching is driven by a focus on cognitive science and educational research and our quality assurance of teaching is developmental rather than judgemental. Our teachers are given the space and support to make positive changes to their teaching in a risk-free environment; we watch each other teach, share best practice and are eager to accept our professional obligation to improve methods of embedding the knowledge our boys need.
The Science Department at Birkdale High School are a committed, collaborative and hard working team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic department who have worked hard to develop a knowledge rich, carefully sequenced and challenging curriculum.
