We are looking for an experienced and successful teacher who is able to teach Science across all key stages, ideally with a background of working with students with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

Newlands Academy specialises in teaching students 11-16 who have SEMH. The school is based in a newly purpose-built special academy and is part of Academies Enterprise Trust’s network of 57 primary, special and secondary academies. The Academy is based in Southwark, London and currently has 70 students on roll.

You will: 

  • Be a qualified teacher with the ability to inspire a passion for Science 
  • A good knowledge of SEN Code of Practice, in particular SEMH education
  • A commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team to actively promote inclusion and ensure the safeguarding of all pupils
  • Take pride in helping students who can sometimes find school life challenging
  • Be flexible, positive and have a ‘can do attitude’
