Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity for an inspirational and forward-thinking qualified teacher to join our thriving Science department.

At Homewood School, we encourage the use of a range of innovative teaching techniques and you will join a collaborative and committed staff team who share a vision to succeed. In our modern facilities, our large Science department teaches a variety of subjects and qualifications to develop our students up to Key Stage 5. Through a shared focus on teaching and learning, you will be a team player with the right attributes and focus for the day-to-day pressures that teaching brings.

Whether you are at the start of your career or an experienced teacher, you will bring your enthusiasm for your subject and your ability to inspire and transform the lives of young people. Our additional facilities are excellent, with a School Farm to promote conservation work, green issues, environmental science and curriculum enrichment through forensic sciences and dissection. The department also has a rich programme of trips, visits and extra-curricular activities.

Professional development of our staff has emphasis here and for teaching staff there is the opportunity to engage with Leadership Development Training at NPQML or NPQSL levels. All teaching staff are provided with an IT device, enjoy discounts and offers with Kent Rewards and we have an independent nursery on-site which offers discounts to Homewood Staff. Furthermore, you will enjoy a unique working environment in the beautiful town of Tenterden in the heart of the Weald of Kent.

We know it’s a competitive market and are proud of what we can offer. If you feel this is a challenge and an environment you want to be part of, we want to know what it is that makes you the one we should invest in. Detail your successes in your covering letter and get us excited about you.

We are not accepting applications from employment agencies for this position but would be delighted to receive a direct application.

Closing date: 14th July 2019, however early applications are encouraged as we review applications as we receive them.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all members of the community.  Homewood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be asked to apply for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
