Values and vision

Millais School offers a broad and balanced curriculum which seeks to equip girls for life in further education. The individual needs of students are identified and relevant tasks set to aid their progress.

The secondary school’s reputation for high-quality language teaching has enabled it to extend the range of facilities and subjects it offers. French, German, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese are well established. All pupils learn a minimum of two languages until Year 9 and a high proportion pursue both through to GCSE level.

Pupils are also taught enterprise throughout the curriculum, and skills in this area are further developed through enrichment days. Strong links have also been established with local businesses.

Ofsted report

“Students’ behaviour in lessons and around the school is outstanding. They are courteous and polite, arrive to lessons on time and are ready to learn. They confirm that the school is a safe place where learning flourishes. The range of subjects and topics is broad and balanced between academic and work-related courses so that students achieve exceptionally well. Students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is promoted exceptionally well through tutor time, lessons and the wide range of extra-curricular activities provided.”
