Al Basma British School is a popular and over-subscribed, high performing ENC School. We seek a Science teacher to join a very successful Secondary Science team for the upcoming academic year. 

Our six form entry school currently caters for 1600 children from FS1 to Y13. We opened a state of the art Primary block for Y3 to Y6 in September 2020. The expansion enables us to accommodate an additional 850 students over the next five years.

As a BSO school (EduBase No.143834), we are able to offer a UK recognised induction to candidates with QTS using the Early Career Framework, in association with ESP Education.

We follow the 2014 National Curriculum of England and in EYFS the updated 2020 Development Matters Framework. We use GL CAT4 and Progress tests in addition to offering a range of GCSE, iGCSE, iAS and iA Levels from Cambridge, Edexcel and Pearson exam boards to our older students. We have begun to introduce a range of BTEC qualifications to better personalise pathways.

The school initially gained BSO (British Schools Overseas) accreditation in May 2016 in its second year of operation and continued to improve achieving good with many outstanding features in February 2019, with the inspectors commenting on the school’s remarkable rate of improvement. Since January 2017 the school has consistently achieved Band A – gradings in the ADEK Irtiq'aa inspections. In the most recent inspections the school has consolidated its very good grading increasing the number of outstanding strands each time.

Al Basma is located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood of Abu Dhabi called Al Bahia near to the international airport and Yas Island. Dubai is a 35 minute drive from the school. • An Internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Science Education specialising in Y7 to 13 and any subject specialism with QTS or equivalent.

or

• An Internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or a closely related subject and an internationally recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or PGDE in Secondary Science with any specialism and QTS or equivalent.

or

• An internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Science Education or a related subject with QTS or equivalent.

There is no longer a need for teachers to have post-graduation teaching experience (in accordance with ADEK regulations which apply to all private schools in Abu Dhabi)

Please note two supporting references and a police clearance certificate or DBS no more than 3 months old must be provided.
