The governors of this popular Catholic school are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and highly motivated Teachers of Science, specifically a Physicist and a Chemist, who have the highest expectations of themselves and their children. St Thomas More Catholic School educates nearly 1500 students between the ages of 11 and 19 and is located on a 25 acre site in the heart of the Black Country. Our community ethos is based on love of God and love of neighbour, we respect and help each other to be the very best we can. We have a dedicated Chapel, state of the art learning resource centre and purpose built classrooms, a 250-seat theatre and assembly hall, a large sports hall with rock-climbing walls and highly equipped gym, enhanced ICT suites and provision across the school and a sixth form study centre. We also benefit from sharing our site with ‘Goals’ football pitches and use their facilities throughout the day.

Candidates should:

  • Demonstrate consistently good or outstanding classroom practice.
  • Be a passionate advocate of the subject, who contributes effectively to the department and whole school improvement plans.
  • Able to teach across the full age and ability range at age 11-19.
  • An ability or desire to teach A Level.
  • Be able to drive forward academic outcomes for SEN students throughout the school.
  • Be eager to become a supportive Form Tutor.
  • Be able and willing to make a full contribution to the

Catholic life of the school.

  • Have high expectations of self and others.
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be flexible and a good team player.
  • Have leadership experience in Science.
  • A drive to extend your leadership experience.
