We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Sociology who will make the subject exciting and stimulate students’ interest and enthusiasm in their studies. We pride ourselves on the quality of teaching and learning, and the student-centred focus we have as a team.

You will work within the Social Sciences department where students can study for AS or A level Sociology and the Diploma or Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. Ability to offer another subject is desirable.

You will join a team of 9 teachers committed to students maximising their potential. Your teaching should be of high quality and reflected in your students results. You should be committed to developing active and innovative approaches to learning, both inside and outside the classroom. We welcome applications from all qualified teachers including NQTs.

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College situated in Eastleigh, Hampshire is one of the largest (over 4,700 students in 2022) and most successful sixth form colleges in the country.

  • OFSTED judged the College Outstanding across all four key judgements: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
  • We are oversubscribed and well regarded in our community.
  • Our financial management has been excellent allowing us to invest in an estate (over £28 million in 10 years) which seems more like a university than a school.
  • Our curriculum is made up of A level and Level 3 Applied General courses. These are supported by over 90 enrichment courses designed to broaden our students’ skills, employability, health, and commitment to their communities.


80% of second year students move on to Higher Education including to the most selective universities. We draw students from all over the south Hampshire area from a full range of backgrounds and are committed to meeting the needs of individuals and to raising aspiration. Our value-added performance at A level currently places us in the top 10-20% of all providers nationally.
