Job overview

Sandymoor School is a new school in Runcorn, established by local parents in 2012. The school is very popular, with strong community links and it works side by side with its parents to deliver the highest quality educational experience for its pupils. It is also a Microsoft Global Showcase School. The school is rapidly developing an excellent reputation and as such offers considerable career potential to those who work here.

Every year, this sought after school experiences a large increase in its population of pupils and staff as we grow towards our full capacity of 900 pupils.

We are looking for an inspiring, committed and creative individual to join our strong teaching team to cover maternity leave for a member of the Languages department. As the school continues to grow it is possible that the role will continue following the maternity leave should the continued increase in school population require it. Working at Sandymoor School requires the ability to adapt well to change due to the unique position we are in as a school. We are constantly growing and developing, leading in the use of technology to deliver a wide and varied curriculum and we exemplify excellent teaching practice.

For staff in the school they receive a great deal of job satisfaction from being able to contribute to embedding new systems and structures that support and deliver quality learning, whilst working in a brand new state of the art building, purpose built for 21st Century technological learning. They are all instrumental in the success of the school and are valued as such, regardless of position. We share a commitment to inspiring excellence in others and all staff take responsibility for their actions.

Applicants must have a strong academic track record and be capable of building good working relationships with staff, students and parents.  Applicants will also need to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to accept new ideas and a thorough commitment to student learning and achieving their potential, with evidence of high quality professional development and leadership skills. We aim to recruit staff with the vision and determination to ensure all our students receive a first class education and who will rise to the challenge of building on success. You must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for raising standards, as well as an outstanding effective and inspiring teaching style. Sandymoor School’s ethos is about removing barriers for children and creating an educational environment in which they flourish. All staff demonstrate the ability to inspire learners and provide the support network for pupils to become strong, independent, successful individuals, who will be confident in the use of the most up to date technology, ready to move into higher education or secure employment. All staff working at Sandymoor School gain a great deal of job satisfaction through constant opportunities to develop professionally, to secure more responsibility and have their impact on pupils and staff recognised and celebrated. I am an example of this, having joined the school as an Assistant Principal, then becoming Vice Principal and finally Principal. Working at Sandymoor School allows individuals to develop at the rate appropriate for them, which in some cases is faster than a more established institution could accommodate, because of our constant and rapid growth. The school currently has just under 500 pupils on roll, it is now over half of the way through its growth plan. At maximum capacity the school will hold 900 pupils and provide mixed education for 11 to 18 year olds.  We will have in excess of 600 pupils on roll in September 2018, which highlights our continued success and growth. To find out more about Sandymoor School, please visit our website for our prospectus and other relevant information. If you feel that Sandymoor School is the opportunity you are looking for to impact on individual pupils and shape future practice, please apply by completing the application form available from our school website and email to thompsonc@sandymoorschool.org.uk Early applications and school visits are warmly welcomed and positively encouraged. Closing Date for applications is Thursday 14th December 2017 at 12pm Interviews will commence from Monday 18th December 2017. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Sandymoor School.

We are currently in the midst of our most successful year in terms of our aim to become an 'outstanding’ school by our next Ofsted inspection.

Our progress 8 score for 2017-18 showed massive improvement on the previous year as we shifted from -1.11 to -0.72.

We have strong indications that this year will be our best ever for results with an upward trend projected over time.

It is a cliché but our school really has been on a journey and the best is yet to come.  When Ofsted visited us in February of this year, the monitoring report was extremely positive about all of our plans and we were especially keen to show off our impressive impact within the 9 month time frame.

Our vision is clear and that is to ensure that all students are equipped with the skills, abilities and qualifications to pursue a fulfilling career regardless of their background. Empowering students through our unique, 'Confident Curriculum', is at the heart of our approach.  Laying strong foundations through excellent teaching and learning and building strong, positive bonds with our youngsters and their families is key to this.

Our pupils are considered to be truly outstanding by all who visit us and they deserve the very best.  Embedding the skills considered to be the driving force behind student progression and leadership enables them to be confident in themselves and provides them with all of the opportunities they desire.

We certainly are a growing school, becoming first choice for many families. This coming year we have indications that we will be full for the first time which is a reflection of the happy and dynamic place that we have quickly become.  Having said that, our PAN means that we are a school blessed with smaller year groups which allows us to ensure every pupil is given the best opportunities regardless of their starting points.

More recently we have been given an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful Multi Academy Trust.  This is still in the early phases but will stand us in an even better position to reach for the sky!

Every parent and carer, me included, wants to know that the school their child attends is a place of progress, movement and happiness.  As I continue to lead this school I pledge that the most important of my endeavours is to ensure that each and every member of the Sandymoor family is afforded the best! We have been through an intense period of change in a short space of time and this is testament to the commitment and hard work from staff here. Schools such as ours often attract and retain the best staff and here is no exception.  If you would like to become part of this outstanding team of people then please come and join us to make a genuine difference.
