Aquinas is a thriving Catholic Sixth Form College in Stockport with over 2000 FTE students.  The college wishes to appoint to the following teaching post from 27 August 2019:

Teacher of Textiles/Fashion Design - Full time

We currently have an opportunity within the Art & Design department for the right candidate to teach 3D Design and Graphic Design. However, the flexibility in the department allows us to be able to fit the timetable around the skills and abilities presented within the applications received. Therefore this post is running in conjunction with two other posts the college is advertising ie. Textiles/Fashion Design, Product/3D Design.  We have one post to fill from the three advertised.  Candidates are asked to specify their specialism and preferences for the above subjects and the applications will be shortlisted accordingly, dependent on the strength of the field that applies.

The above appointment will be made on the Sixth Form Colleges Association Teachers’ pay scale, points 1 to 9, up to £38,748. Candidates must be able to show a clear commitment to delivering quality teaching to inspire students of all abilities to reach their full potential.

As a college committed to equal opportunities, we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. The college and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people. This post is subject to a Disclosure Application of the appropriate level to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Applicants must complete the college’s application form and a pack is available on our website www.aquinas.ac.uk or alternatively by email recruitment@aquinas.ac.uk or telephone 0161 483 3237. Closing date for completed applications 4.00pm Tuesday 23rd April 2019. Interviews will be held week beginning 29th April 2019.

Values and vision

Aquinas College aims to affirm and value each member of its community, recognising the dignity and unique nature of each individual. In this way the presence of Christ is celebrated. The college strives to share in each other’s strengths, support each other in weaknesses and celebrate the highest standards of achievement. The college also encourages a questioning stance towards the values of an increasingly secular society.

Aquinas College provides an extensive range of courses for adults in state-of the-art facilities in the heart of the Stockport community. Part of this remit is the provision of leisure courses and examination courses on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Ofsted

“Governors and college staff promote an inclusive and welcoming environment. A strong ethos of mutual respect is evident across the college in lessons and in communal areas. Behaviour is very good in lessons. Teaching, learning and assessment are of a good standard across most programmes of study. Most learners make good progress in lessons and are developing necessary academic and technical skills.”
