We are looking to appoint a Teacher of Welsh to join the team in our busy, successful and friendly Welsh department. The Welsh department is a thriving and successful one. The post represents an excellent opportunity for career development and to teach across the age and ability range. Applications are welcome from experienced colleagues and candidates currently completing their PGCE course. The Alun has a full induction programme in place and you will be well supported during your first years in teaching.
Our Welsh department achieves excellent GCSE and Advanced Level results with more than 65% of pupils achieving grade A*-C in GCSE Welsh. A level performance places the school in the top 30% of schools (ALPs data).
The Alun School, which is situated twelve miles from the historic city of Chester, is a co-educational comprehensive school with 240+ in each year group and a Sixth Form of almost 400 students. Our school offers an extremely supportive environment in which to work. Students are enthusiastic to learn, and behavioural issues are managed very successfully through our strong House system. We have a thriving programme of extra-curricular activities and relationships with parents are very good. All members of staff are very positive about their school and staff turnover is very low.
