Position Information 

Melville High School is located on Dunghutti land in the Macleay Valley serving approximately 600 students with a student Aboriginal population of over 30%. It is a comprehensive, coeducational school, with a strong focus on student growth and achievement, quality teaching, restorative practices and wellbeing. Opportunities are provided in academic, sporting, cultural, creative and technological learning areas and programs to develop social and employment skills are a focus. In 2021 Melville High School joined the Connected Communities Strategy which aims to improve outcomes for Aboriginal students and therefore all students.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) and willingness to teach community and family studies and sport, lifestyle and recreation.
  • High Level interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively collaborate with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement evidence-based teaching and welbeing practices to create classroom and outdoor environments that are dynamic, engaging, inclusive and foster a culture of high expectations with a focus on improving literacy and numeracy.
  • Understanding of cultural and educational needs of Aboriginal students and a commitment to improving their educational outcomes
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm full vaccination status prior to the Department of Education finalising the appointment of the candidates and entry on duty.
