Teacher Primary

We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Primary Teacher at Sanquhar Primary School situated within rural Dumfries and Galloway. The school roll is currently 172 pupils together with a nursery which offers 50 places. The nursery has places for some 2 year old children and offers 1140 hours to parents and carers. The school forms part of the Sanquhar Academy cluster with one other primary school. Sanquhar is very much at the centre of the community and works closely with all partner agencies.

The school is very well resourced and benefits from a large open playground which includes green field areas, climbing wall and garden area. The school is an attractive and stimulating centre of learning. Classes are centred around a large hall which is used for P.E. , Assemblies and lunches. One classroom is a dedicated ICT suite with another used by Music and Art specialists. A Learning Centre with a hydrotherapy pool offers support to pupils with additional needs.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

This is a temporary post for a period of up to 5 months.
